ZenJournal notes

Privacy Policy

ZenJournal's privacy policy explains local storage, iOS iCloud CloudKit sync, Android behavior, and how user data is handled.

Last updated: May 18, 2026

Your privacy is important to us. ZenJournal does not sell your data, run advertising profiles, or operate a separate server for your journal logs.

Journal data storage

On Android, ZenJournal stores your journal logs locally on your device. Your private logs will not leave your device unless you explicitly export or back them up.

On iOS, ZenJournal may use Apple's CloudKit service to store and sync your journal data through your private iCloud account when you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is enabled for the app. This allows your ZenJournal data to sync across your Apple devices using Apple's iCloud infrastructure. We do not operate the CloudKit servers, and your use of iCloud and CloudKit is subject to Apple's terms and privacy practices.

If you use the Backup function in the app, the backup file you created is currently not encrypted (we are working on it). Please treat the file with ultimate caution when storing and exporting, because anyone with access to the file can open your logs.

We don’t share any personally identifying information publicly or with third parties. We don't even have analytics; your feedback and reviews are the only way for the developer to understand your usage and needs of the app.

To provide you with the best app experience, we may update this privacy policy from time to time as we make changes to the app.

Your continued use of ZenJournal will be regarded as acceptance of our practices around privacy and personal information. If you have any questions about how we handle user data and personal information, feel free to contact us: [email protected]
